Here are some really good software programs to help you DJ a station...
Sonicart 2.0 Sonicart is a jingle encoding, scheduling and playback system designed for small community based radio stations. Sonicart can be used to playback pre-scheduled jingle playlists and also customised jingle playlists, which can be scheduled per show. {my note: I use this program for our own station. It emulates a real cart machine used in radio stations. Great software. Allows you to convert your CDs into carts for the virtual cart machine. Also allows you to auto download the titles of the tracks from the web so you don't have to type them in yourself!} http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Sonicart/
Kickwave 1.0 Versatile .Wav player designed for radio broadcasters and sound hobbyists. Features Cart metaphor that let's you pre-load 27 sounds. Save sound configuration and one-button reload, playlog, color customization and remote. {my note: Basically this program gives you a window with buttons that you can click to play sound effects or jingles when you want on the spot for live DJing. It's a nice virtual sound board} http://www.brothersoft.com/kickwave-6362.html
Winamp Winamp, the ultimate media player, allows you to manage and play audio and video files, rip and burn cds, enjoy free music, access and share your music and more. {my note: This is an absolutely must have program if you are a DJ for a radio station. It's one of the best media players around. It fades songs if you want and all kinds of other features good for radio casting. It even allows you to webcast with it via the right plugins} www.winamp.com
GoldWave Multiple Document Interface for editing dozens of waves in one session. {my note: One of the most solid best audio editing utilities around. You can mix, edit, do cuts, add effects and work with multiple wavs at the same time. It can also save and load many different file formats. It's known to be the best in audio editing software around for production work.} www.goldwave.com
Some other useful software for broadcasting and DJing: StereoCoder - Software stereo encoder to generate a digital MPX stereo signal for FM radio stations right from your soundcard. If you have a mono FM transmitter and want to make it broadcast in stereo but don't have the money for an analog MPX unit then this software can do it for you instead via a high quality sound card. http://www.diffusionsoftware.com/stereocoder.php
