Hey guys I'm looking for a good low pass filter. I noticed I can hear my signal from 87.9 cutting into another station at 88.1 at a mile or 2 away from the transmitter. My amplifier is a broadcast warehouse with a lpf built in, I assumed it would be enough. I used to have a site bookmarked that sold filters for your particular frequency like 87.9 for around $50 i believe. Anyone know the site?

Your kind of in luck because I am currently looking into building a low pass filter for my setup and reading up on designs and such. Keep in mind that high powered stations can sometimes splatter/bleed on to channels right next to their own when the person listening in has a low cost radio. Here in my town we have a 36,000 watt station on 93.7 and I can hear their signal just fine on 93.5 and 93.9 and that's with a good radio and living 5 miles from the antenna site. On older analog tuned radios it can even splatter onto other channels more. Since you are running around 100 watts you said it's a good chance that this is the issue and probably nothing much to worry about. Some transmitters naturally have a wide band signal because of the design or parts used. Even though they are only suppost to be 200khz wide to serve only a single channel spot on the dial, sometimes they deviate a little more getting a "wider" signal which can cause interference to the channels on the left and right of yours. The only real reason to need a LPF (low pass filter) is to not cause interference to VHF and UHF frequencies like those used by hams/police and aircraft. Usually the interference will be multiples of your own freq. So if you are on 87.9 you could cause interference to 175.8, 263.7.. and so on which is why you want to cut anything above your 87.9 and that's what LPFs are for. This probably won't get rid of you spattering your signal on 88.1 though as it is pretty hard to have filters made to cut off that close to a frequency. So your best bet is to lower your power output (I know, no fun) or make sure your audio is no louder then any other station on the dial, or maybe even soften it a little as loud audio causes more deviation = wider bandwidth and splatter. Best of luck. edit: you can look into BPF (band pass filters) but they are expensive and need to be tuned specific to your channel. Not easy to come by unless you have someone build you one.

Greetings Void ! I sure do ! The shipping is inflated but the price is GREAT ! The 150 Watt LPF sells currently for $41.99 U.S. They are located in Slovenia but make some very nice, fair priced wares .. I would recommend checking the shipping cost before making your purchase however, they tend to inflate the shipping fees from by observation but it still may be cheaper for a quality product as opposed to buying elsewhere. I did this by putting something in my basket, proceed to checkout and go through all the motions until you get to where it states the total price including shipping to the U.S.A. Don't commit to purchase until you see the total amount, that's how I did it..
Good evening, ... Spooky
