Renamed the Announcements subforum to Station Loggings since it's more fitting of a name. Also added it as a quick link to the sidebar "On Forums:" section. Hopefully this will encourage more people to post stations they listened to and logged.
Added Tropospheric Ducting Forecast to the Off Site side menu. This should be useful to pirates and DXers for the FM broadcast band to check when skip will be coming in strong from distant stations, and interference to your FM station.
I know when tropo skip is strong here it makes my signal on FM listenable for only about a mile because of all the distant stations taking over my normally clear open channel that I use. Note that my signal normally gets out 3-5 miles on a good day. This map will show you when that kind of occurrence is happening so you can confirm interference to your station
Also a great way to know when to turn on your FM radio to try and pick up far away stations that normally wouldn't be picked up without the tropo skip conditions.
Moved a few old threads around to where they currently belong. Deleted a few really old threads back from when the forums were built that don't currently fit with the current purpose of the forums. Deleted an old festering wort that was posted in the shortwave pirates section from long ago
Edit: Did a bunch more things..
-Added boarder around sidebar for more 3D look. -Made sidebar have a bit of transparent look. -Added some code to make the reply button jump to last post in the thread rather than first post. -Put in some code to make a message box appear when you have any new PMs that when clicking "ok" will bring you directly to your personal messages inbox. -Also made the forums background fixed so that it doesn't move when scrolling. I think it looks better that way. -Updated icons/emoticons to a newer looking set. -Updated colors in the Default skin -Created a new skin called "Oscilloscope". You can try it by going to your Profile, click Modify Profile, scroll down the page and click Select Skin.
Today I will be doing a few small graphics updates to freshen up the looks on all of the forum skins. Changed a few colors slightly to make things more intelligible when using other skins besides the default.
void is now a moderator. I have known this guy for many years over the internet and he is a good friend who I feel will be a good moderator for this site.
Changes the subthread "Station Loggings for Pirates" to a main forum called "FRF Log Book" with a short description on how any interesting activity can be logged, not just pirates. Figured it would be more well seen on the main page and look more professional.
I rearranged a few main forums to now fit with the new associated subjects.
I'm thinking all is looking good so far.
I'm just pondering what the next evil plan is to get you all off the grid and broadcast your last right of freedom of speech and spirit.
Okay I will take my tinfoil hat off.
I really hope all is looking good here so far. You people need to keep in touch with me on changes and where you want to see this sweet romantic place of radio go. I want these forums to be a beautiful world for you. Damn you Devo. I need to take less psychedelics for a while
On another note, whole site has been backed up, I installed some script to auto update anytime something changes in the code of the forums so that if anything goes screwy we have a backup of days back worth.
Fixed Quick Link site links. The URLs were directing to proboards100 but since they upgraded their forum software the proper links don't need the "100" server redirect anymore. Sorry if that was bugging anyone, I didn't even notice until now.
Sometime during December our host proboards will be upgrading to version 5 of their software so we will be forced to convert some of our old code so that it works with the updates.
As your administrator I will try to make this as painless as possible. So far it looks like it shouldn't change a whole lot for how our forum looks and works. It's a bit iffy at the moment though because they don't even have the new software fully developed yet.
From what I have been told they are working out all the kinks right now, and once they go live with it we will have 3 months to fix or patch anything up to run on the new software.
Hopefully it doesn't screw up the way our forums work but there should be no reason for anyone to worry besides myself who has to work around this headache
