A 10-year-old Wisconsin boy may have to give up his ham radio hobby, due to permit issues surrounding the 62-foot tower that was erected in his family's backyard. The boy's mother assured that everything that went into putting up the tower "to our knowledge (was) very legally."
There are also safety concerns regarding the tower. One neighbor is quoted as calling it a "monstrosity" and worries that it might topple over and hurt his own son if he plays in the backyard.
Incidentally, the 10-year-old's mother laments that he cannot play outside "and he gets really depressed and upset." The boy suffers from cerebral palsy.
The fate of the tower will be decided by the village's zoning board this afternoon.
What a crazy story. Poor kid. The neighbor is worried that the tower may fall and hurt their kid? Like what is the chances of that ever happening?!? Like less than being struck by lightning. Besides if properly installed that tower is probably more safe than the trees in the yard possibly falling over, I mean c'mon what's wrong with some people? Does anyone have common sense anymore?
I got questioned about my 40' tower by my neighbors also. They were a bit worried that it was close to their own house but after some talking they realize it's properly installed and is within code. Some people like in that story above though are just nuts. Oh yeah a tower is so ugly, remove that eye sore lol. Why don't we start with the cell towers first then? See my point?
around here the law states you cant put up a tower that can fall in your neighbors property without their written permission. i think thats pretty reasonable. you have no clue what the mechanical skills of the guy next door are so as long as he keeps his contraptions within his property line, no harm, no foul.
