Ah so that is where you're from? Oddly I have never used a cart machine. Have been using digital since day one, though when I first started I played a lot of vinyl and some stuff off of 7" reels that was pre-recorded for the live show.
It would have been exciting to work for a station back when carts were the main medium they used to play music and adverts off of. OTOH I have heard horror stories which all the old timers in the business have with carts going to hell on them while live or the machines going bonkers.
I'm spoiled with virtual (software) cart machines now, but still enjoy putting on a vinyl from time to time. There are 2 stations that I am aware of on the AM dial near me still using carts on air. The one station I swear the owner is deaf as their signal is distorted half the time and you can actually hear the previously recorded material bleed through the tape with the newly recorded. One time the tape sped up and I heard a pop in the background and they were dead air for half an hour lol.
