It seems that the community at large of pirate radio operators and stations have just took a vacation or something. The forums here seem dead lately even though there are almost always 15-20 viewers per day. FRN and Alphalima seem sort of dead with few reports and posts. Also there don't seem to be any stations on lately.
Is everyone just going through a rut lately? I know our station has with the bitter cold/snow and me being sick the last week along with our AM transmitter needing to be rebuilt.
Also there have been a few sad deaths lately of members on some of our sites that were well known and liked.
Is it just winter time or what? I hope the community starts kicking back up again. If anyone needs some help or ideas I am here for ya and there are many others here also.
well, i for one have been actively running my fm broadcast station. i just incorporated a 15 watt rf amp into the system and it seems to work pretty good. my set up cosists of a tugicom tx175 450mw exciter...a tasco mixer..a tube microphone modeling preamp...(bheringer).... a cd player....and the 15 watt amp that i built from berkeley radio. also i have a ramsey rf filter on the antenna line. the setup is very clean with no spurious noise and a clean carrier except for a slight audible hum that i havnt fiqured out yet??? i think i may need a better ground on the grenade amp. my antenna is a discone broadband vertical ,mounted 30ft...but i plan on raising it another 10 ft. everything runs off my pyramid 12 amp power supply which is filtered ,and well regulated ,at 13.8vdc.
On the shortwave side there is some sort of feud going on over on the FRN. Activity has been good though. Maybe controversy makes for lot's of programming?
Me? I'm dog sick w/ some damned flu bug and unable to get out to transmit.

I've been active for a while now at 5 watts and dipole but antenna will soon be changed to 5/8 wave ground plane and a maximum of 80 watts although likely will just let it 'idle' at 50 watts max.. That will be plenty of power to cover a medium size area that I wish to serve.. I am going to use a 15 watt FM BCB transmitter throttled back to only drive the RF Power Amplifier just enough to see 50 watts output to the 5/8 wave GP.. Should be fun to see how well that works out !
Regards to all ! Spooky..

Greetings To All !
Well, the 5/8 wave Ground Plane is now up and I have repaired the RF power amplifier, capable of running 80 watts. I have not yet placed it inline as I first must make a balun for the antenna feed point as I am getting far too much reflected power for comfort, the unbalanced heliax feedline is radiating and causing the high VSWR. That shall be rectified tomorrow with the fabrication of the balun, then full testing will be done and soon thereafter put into service with 50 watts output, loafing along. I will report on the results at that time. Hope you are feeling better Kage !
