On 11/9/11 at 2:00PM EST (18:00 UTC) there is going to be a nationwide test of the emergency alert system.
From what I read it sounds like *all* TV and radio stations will interrupt their broadcasts for the test, so there will be a complete blackout just for this. It's the first test of its kind here in the US.
Kind of freaky on multiple counts if you ask me. Seems a bit too big brother like. Either way it will be interesting to tune in just to see what this test will sound like. I plan on keeping my DX-398 handy so that I can just flip between FM/AM and SW while it happens just to hear any variations or glitches.
Since the first nation wide emergency system was put in place way back in the hey day of hay, the president has always had the ability to activate the system, but it never was used.
This one is merely a modernized version.
I would not let this be of any real concern..as chances are the tests will merely interrupt non-relevant programming anyway. It may even be better, worthwhile...educational perhaps.
But is the first step to total control of all media with the "One Button Wonder". That includes everything from radio to tv to iPhone to internet to satellite to telephone to X-Box to PS3 to Wii and anything else on the grid.
I wonder how many people who recently rushed out and bought that new pos 4g thing will storm back to their store claiming a defect in their new phone when this test begins!
I plan to air on my stations the moment this test starts with the theme from M.A.S.H. "Suicide Is Painless".
Peace!

Here is a link to a video showing what the test will be like. It is not the exact test to be run on the 9th of November, but is a good idea of how it will run.
My question is..why does this test have to be on 11/9/11? Would it have anything to do with numerology? Perhaps black magic? Luciferian symbolism? Or some sick subliminal trick as Kage suggests and implant into people's minds a permanent reminder to the inside job of 9/11?
Perhaps folks might want to hook up the o-scopes and analyzers to their audio and video and double check for any suspicious spikes or wave patterns. I plan to do just that.
Peace!

When they start telling people not to worry its only a test...folks might want to keep the radio and tv turned off starting at 2pm Eastern time for a duration of 3:30.
Note the 3:30. Follow the numbers people!

Here we are, Nov 10, and the highly promoted to the likes of a new Hollywood movie EAS nationwide test was a TOTAL FLOP!!
Although the test proved it could interrupt programs on a mass scale, it FAILED miserably in doing any test of sending out a message.
Large areas reported nothing but silence. Others reported garbled muddy swishing audio that was not even understandable.
Boy..if it is working this good (sarcasm) I would imagine if there is a REAL nationwide emergency were to occur, we are still better off simply looking out a window.
I dont' know about anyone else, but I never have, and never will put any faith or trust in big brother who tells you not to worry its only a test and then that test fails miserably and then the instigators of said test just disappear as if it never happened.

Moral to the story....put your faith and trust in yourself and pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

It was a flop in my area. Three of my locals had the signal and one actually aired some unintelligble audio, the other two had silence. One I didn't hear, but a friend did, didn't even interrupt their programming at all even after airing announcements of the test days before the fact.
I think good old CONELRAD would have worked better.... ;D
