Hey guys!
My name is Katie bell and I'm a student of Radio at Bournemouth University.
Im doing a dissertation on contemporary pirate radio focusing on listeners and their personal relationship with pirate/free radio. I myself love it as I feel its where the heart of radio really is, and un-bound by commercial interests, its the best radio experience you can get!
If you have five minutes, please please take the time to fill out this short questionnaire. Its completely confidential, anonymous and would be so much help!
So far not many people have identified as pirate radio listeners and its something to celebrate!

Hi Katie !
Nice to have the presence of a lady here and your interest in Pirate Radio and your correct opinion that you will always get your best radio listening experience by listening to pirate radio most often.
I would have filled out your survey but I do not reside in Europe or any of the areas listed on your survey form. I have been listening to pirate radio stations for around 50 years. I have even run a few of them personally at times.
These stations fill cultural, musical and ethnic voids within the radio spectrum that may NEVER be provided for via commercial radio. Typically, most commercial stations bore me to death with their repetition of musical selections and where I live, the genres of Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Motown and Old School Rock & Roll are all but totally unheard, EVER..
My favorite 'radio heydays' were the 1960's and 1970's when behemoth AM commercial stations such as CKLW, The Big 8, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, WABC, 77.0 KHz, New York City, USA, WKBW, Buffalo, New York, USA graced the airwaves. My personal favorite commercial station was CKLW, they simply had a 'sound', on-air personalities, GREAT music, etc., I used to listen to them every chance I got growing up as a would be 'hippy' later into the 1970's.. :-) I still manage to find old recordings of these pioneers of radio and it is simply terrific to hear excerpts from decades past and fun times now behind us..
Love to see your replies here !
Good luck !
