OK I'm looking to transmit my Internet Radio station I run that plays Classic Rock, Progressive Rock (Album Rock) a distance of 1/4 to 1 mile. I've looked at the SainSonic AX-05B which looks to be the same as the Hlly or Fail-Safe CZH-05B but with a TNC connector and on back it has an FCC ID# and claims to be certified. I even called and Emailed SainSonic to be certain it didn't cause harmonics and was using 75 uS pre emphasis (Not 50). I'll be using NextKast which is a Radio Automation program with built in audio processing that sounds great and keeps the audio at a certain level and it has the ability to be ran into two separate sound cards one for the transmitter and one that is built into your computer. I'm wondering since SainSonic has this transmitter certified does it mean I can transmit with a stock antenna and run this as I get it or is this a transmitter that will cause too many harmonics and should I look at maybe the Whole House FM transmitter 3.0 and use the secret high power mode (Hold down mute and cycle button down till you see a lightning bolt which will throw this unit into high power mode). Reports said on Amazon that you can get out 1 mile when you do this (Which I know is a little past part 15 but don't care too much). I want to transmit Stereo and have a fixed income so I really can't afford the AX-7C because I'd have to buy a low pass filter (if I could find one) plus I am visually impaired and can't see well enough to sadder wires to make a filter and I'd need a transmitter with SWR protection as I've heard the SainSonic AX-05B has. So this is why I want to buy a nice micro Radio station in a box and get locals to like my station and if so they'll listen on the net when they want to hear it more than 1/4 to 1 mile. I'd be happy with 1/4 mile to 1 mile as I think I would have a few listeners in that range and not draw unwanted attention from the FCC due to an outside antenna and transmitting more than 2 miles away and causing interference. If I could get out 2 miles with a watt or less on a rubber duck that is cool as well but really don't want to be a power monger. I also looked at this 200mW transmitter CZE-T200 as it does have 4 power levels and can run off battery, or Electric or the USB port of my computer. I'd consider Mobile Black Box but its mono (ick) and won't be acceptable for a True Album Rock station playing Deep Tracks as well as Classic Rock.

If I were you I wouldn't mess with any IC based transmitters UNLESS they are using RDA5820 chip which basically 99% of them don't. It would cost a bit more, but you could go with pcs electronics. They are the best no professional transmitters on the market. They have a PCI transmitter designed to be put in a PC, but can also easily be used standalone. It has integrated stereo encoder and 75uS pre-emphasis.
