Sometimes in the past a windows update that comes in will crash the player and I will find my station not playing any sound at it's current status, other times I think I was hacked and the intruder or intruders pressed the pause or the stop button on my player app just to piss me off, or perhaps they wanted to stop my station to give their own station the upper edge on the competition, but I don't compete, I am actually a charity server.
I did make some changes to my windows settings and ever since then I have not had any issues with this so far in the past 5 or so months. but I had these issues like every month before I installed a Firewall blocker program that I found out not only blocks most trolls from trolling my server it also can be used to calculate current listeners. It is called Glasswire. and one time shortly even after I installed Glasswire someone hacked my server again and uninstalled the app but for some reason didn't shutdown my music broadcast that particular time.
I seen this done to others who used ICECAST in the past. I mean I seen other station that for example play the same song over and over again in a 3 second loop as one example and another server playing DJ Mike Llama ad for the Winamp demo recording. playing non stop on servers over and over again for hours. Personally I DON'T THINK THIS SHIT IS EVER FUNNY. But it's happened to me plenty of times in my 2 years experience of broadcasting on a public unencrypted online frequency.
I am calling all online broadcasters to talk openly about this on this thread, even if this has never happen to you before. I seen this happen to other online radio stations, just by listening to some other peoples public unencrypted public free of charge broadcasts. In case you do not know PEOPLE WILL SHUT YOU OFF. it's happen to me
That is why you need to keep an eye on your server often and disable remote control as much as possible
Holy Bible verse about charity
Acts 20:35 - Acts 20:35: It is more blessed to give than to receive.
