Hello guys I finally broke down and got one of those Chinese Transmitters. I know the quality isn't very good but ... I also heard that if you use good coax and antenna along with an lpf... you will see pretty good results. I am starting out small with a 5 watt. using the supplied coax and ground plane antenna that came with it. I am broadcasting in Mono and on 87.7 fm. Honestly, I think the music doesn't sound to bad. As I was driving around town I noticed that on this frequency as I was getting further away from my signal there is a noticeable squeal on this channel. My signal would pop in and at that same time the squeal accompanied my signal. As I got more distant the squeal quit all together but I could still hear my signal but barely I was probably 6 miles from the transmitter. What I would like to know could this be the poor quality of the transmitter or is this normal for this out of band frequency? I did not notice this noise at all when I was on 87.9 . Just thought I would throw that out at some of you and hear your thoughts. Thanks
Have you checked to see if there is a ch6 DTV in your area? If it is the transmitter, you should hear the squeal regardless of your distance:half mile or three miles. Try a vacant Freq up the dial a bit and see if the problem follows.
