I've spent about two hours writing down every frequency from 88.1 to 107.9 and matching local stations, repeaters and local LPFM to these frequencies. I've found a spot that is clear all the way from Lexington to Paducah, and wide enough that there shouldn't be ANY over-modulation problems. Fortunately I haven't been on the air that long. Most of my listeners are friends, so a channel change won't rock the boat too much. So- no more worries about religious station 10 watt repeaters. I actually did this survey before I went on the air, but not as intensive. I even drove my truck to the top of the highest hill today to double check and make sure that there's NOTHING on this frequency. So, I'll adjust the vertical element, check the SWR, and fire it back up. I guess I'll need to make some new cards and flyers. Oh well!

Radio Locator is pretty good, but use it with caution. I find that in my area, radio stations tend to pop up and disappear with such frequency that their information isn't always up to day.
They are a good baseline coupled with some field testing though.
