I'm a girl from Denmark there love to work with electronic, especial with the wireless part.
I have make a 'little AM project' on medium wave consisting of an AMT3000 from SSTRAN as exciter, my own liniar driver and a PM62FDC PA from RFSource in Greece.
My modifications: I have rebuilt AMT3000 to 50 Ohm output (oops now only 20 mW output ), so with my driver (now 200 mW out, better). PM62FDC is a 60 Watt PEP stage, but I can only use up to 15 watts if it is not to distort.
I've made a few test broadcasts on 1593 kHz. Via a long wire dipole with coils, maybe someone can hear me in the evening.
1593 kHz is the most peaceful frequency I can find here in Denmark on MW (sorry Radio Bianca), , you are very weak here, if it's you? . I think you also use this frequency. I transmit from one place in Denmark called 'North Zealand'.
Best regards Lisa .

Your setup sounds simple and nice. I have found over the years that with AM it's all about the antenna and happens to be one of the most complex parts of the system to setup if a person has never worked with such low frequencies before. That is unless you're using a full size horizontal dipole. That is a bit easier if you have the space but I know I sure don't so instead I use a "T" style antenna that is shortened and ran into a tuner/matcher with about 10 watts carrier (40 watts PEP).
You said you're running 15 watts carrier, so that sounds exactly correct being 60 watts PEP since with AM you need 4 times the headroom in a linear for both sidebands+carrier power to breath. (Too bad we couldn't get CB radio operators around here to get that simple fact through their head)
Welcome to the forums! Always interested in hearing about other mediumwave pirates here, there are so few of us on MW. Most go for the FM or shortwave route.
Hi Kage and thanks for the welcome and comments . Oops.. I forgot a 'h' in 'channel' .
My antenna is not a 'full size' model, but it's a 2 x 30 meters (98.nnnn feet) dipol with coils on the wire going up to 2 trees with isolators. I have a good SWR with almost zero return on my 'Bird-meter'.
I have a plan on rebuild my exciter to a 'puls wide modulation' system and make AM on this way. if it succeeded, I will tell more about it here, think.. a output near the PEP effect as FM, for me, 60 watts woow.. If other here has experience on this field, please tell.
Edit: On 'Radio Electronics & Tech'
