The FCC (Foul Corrosive Commission) have upheld a $24,000 fine against Kevin Bondy the licensee of General Mobile Radio Service Station WQGX752, based out of Encino, California US. Bondy was it seems deliberately causing interference to the licenced security frequencies of 461.375 MHz and 466.375 MHz for a shopping center in Thousand Oaks, Calif. He was also allegedly harassing customers and employees at the shopping centre. For some reason Bondy seems to have felt that the frequencies in question were his, and he gave the centre three weeks to vacate them. He then began a campaign of pulsing their repeaters to put them out of action. He then went to jam the frequencies with weather reports. More on the links....

Larger than normal fine issued against Marc-Nus Charles for operating a pirate station out of Pompano Beach, Florida US. Apparently Charles has previous form for pissing of the FCC (Foul Corrosive Commission) and he 'Gasp' ignored their notices to him and shock horror demonstrated deliberate disregard for the Commission's authority (Yawn). So they have fined him $20,000 for the sake of petty vengeance. You just know that these creeps are mean to their mothers, well they could not be mean to their fathers as they don't have a clue who they are lol. Article below...

A kind of whiny rant by Dan Slentz on the Radio World Blog about Pirate radio in the US. Quote from the piece; "I can honestly say I have yet to find any that fall into the first category above (a “responsible pirate”)."

The Cold War Broadcast That Gave East German Dissidents A Voice....
A story about Radio Glasnost, a show on a West German radio station broadcasting dissident material into East Germany. The material was recorded on cassettes, and smuggled out of East Germany at great personal risk, so that East Germans would have a voice against the regime. This took place in the final few years before the Berlin Wall was pulled down, and the dictatorships across eastern Europe started to collapse. Although not strictly a Pirate, the non censorship, open participation, non commercial, anti-authoritarian approach is in keeping with a rough set of Pirate Radio ideals.
