Recently went from an EDM-LCD-TX 10mW-100mW to a Source 1.2 Watt low power xmtr. Big difference. Here's a link to pic of my desk, also used for VO production. imgur.com/1JLUX6Z
Well, I guess I'll drag down the thread a bit with mine... It's in a barn. I remote control it with remote desktop and a smart-plug. I have a little button on my phone that can turn it on/off from anywhere. I have the remote PC completely unable to access the internet, it has to pull everything from a separate intranet.. It was initially to get past the stereo tool key checks (arr!), but ended up turning into a convenient way to keep it from self updating and messing up the settings.
I have another project in the works that I'll really start working on in October. Fairly covert, can't really share many details about what it's for, but will absolutely share more of the inner workings and the ideas behind it if people are interested. Going for completely remote controlled off-the-grid and "untraceable" (trace resistant.. They can take the box, but they're gonna have to work very hard to take me to jail) cluster of boxes in very separate locations meant to cover less than a square mile per transmitter that can all be activated and transmitting simultaneously, self sustaining with prepaid LTE cards and deep cycle AGM batteres charged with solar panels. The LTE will reverse SSH over a VPN paid for with crypto by someone other than myself, and the VPN is in another country, where the source material will be relayed. We already did broadcasts to these locations from a car and received a ridiculously positive response from way more listeners than I ever expected. The numbers would sound like I'm embellishing, but.. Well.. I wouldn't be. I can share more details about the actual boxes, but not what it's for, since it's about the biggest middle finger one can possibly stick up at the government, and they will definitely be pissed.. Hence why all of the layers of security, and why I'm being very vague about where it is.. We don't want them to find the boxes and tie them to me here, now do we?
Anyways, the photos of the current 'beta project' setup. Sorry for the quality, capped these from a video I took for a friend... I warned you I was going to 'drag down the thread a bit'
Remote desktop access from the 'studio'
The CZE-T251.. Stored in a barn and powered by a remote controlled smart plug. There's dirt on the transmitter, because it's in a frikkin barn..
The transmitter and computer, sitting on old yard furniture stored in a corner. Using LMR800 cable and "proper" grounding, as well.

Sounds like a very cool idea! Someone else had a similar idea of a micro-power transmitter network a while ago, but not with nearly as much detail or security as this. I'd be very interested to hear the results.
Even though it's a very good idea, I never tried it myself because I live in a pretty rural area and I would need a ton of those. Around here, it would be much easier to make a solar powered setup on a mountain (which is my plan eventually). I would use a microwave link like a gunn diode or maybe a 5.8G link. On the mountain, I'd probably use no more than a 30W transmitter to keep costs down and the size of the solar panels down. There are DTMF boards on ebay where you dial in a number over the audio and it flips a relay. This way I wouldn't need a computer or Raspberry Pi up there.
