Ok, now that the tx is up and running, and a vertical is up in the garden I need som tips on what you are using to play music, mix in speech etc. Have been using an android tab and the phone so far, which seems to work ok, but want a more permanent approach. Have thought of using the pc, but that a hassle when I'll set up the station other than at home. Was looking at a cheap ebay 2channel mixer/eq with built in usb/sd player, but I'll guess the mp3 player sounds awful. (Tried a cheap usb player I had lying at home, but that sounds like crap with noise, blurs and different strange sounds. Guess it's because it's a cheap mp3 decoder chip) What are you guys using?
I think most here are using some sort of studio equipment, bare minimal a computer with some automation software for IDs, jingles, and music, along with the standard outboard gear like CD and turntable decks. Micing up the host is an art by itself. Some people simply connect a mic to their mixer, others run theirs through a whole lot of speech processing equipment. What you need to run a show greatly depends on what sort of show you aim on creating. A two channel mixer with a fader is common for live DJing turntables to beat sync or cross-fade between decks and cue up in headphones the next song, usually with a mic input and auto-ducking features. This can be fine if that's the sort of thing you want, aka: play live DJ with two turntables and a microphone. For more permanent setups you're going to want more than a two channel mixer for other gear to fade/cross-fade in, along with the extra features that comes with more audio channels and input varieties. Just make sure the mixer has cue to headphones features, and if you look into the nice broadcast quality ones they can usually send each fader channel into live out, cue monitor, and PFL (program feed line) so you can record off air while other stuff is going out to the live transmission, like phone calls during song play and such for later live replay while running a show. Fancy features that will cost a fancy price.

Hi Tommy !
I use a Xenyx Model 1002FX, it's a very well made stereo mixer with FX capability and is relatively inexpensive. I recommend Googling it and have a look at it and it's specifications, they work GREAT !!
I also use a Shure Model SCM262 Stereo Mixer I bought in brand new condition for $59.00 on EBay, an older unit without USB connectivity but a solid workhorse for a small price !!
Regards, Spooky..

Tommy,
I forgot to mention that I will be using a laptop computer with Virtual DJ installed, I have used this setup before and it performed very well and the computer makes it easy to create playlists on the fly, etc.. As stated in my previous reply, in conjunction with the laptop, I use a Xenyx Model 1002FX Stereo Mixer and Shure Model SCM262 Stereo Mixer, a real workhorse, simple, rugged, and has two balanced (XLR) audio input connectors and 1 unbalanced 1/4" Phono Jack input as well as 4 additional stereo inputs using gold plated RCA jacks as well as 1/4" Mic/Line Inputs. For simplicity, you can't beat it ! And, you can buy them pretty cheap, used, on Ebay.. There are a few there now in fact..
Best regards, let me know your progress ! Spooky...
