Hey Guys I found a 25 watt fm transmitter from Wavematch.Known as the FM-25WS.. It is pretty high priced but I am willing to pay for something that good. I was Wondering if anyone else has used their products and what you thought . I liked the fact that it had a dieviation meter and an Amperage meter. It also has CD, AUX And Mic Hookups. It claims to have 20 Hz to over 15 KHz Audio response. Looks pretty reliable but if someone can shed more light on this TX that would be great! I want to make sure before I spend a bunch of money. Also what kind of an antenna would srve my needs for this. The antenna would have to go up in my attic due to space. Thanks great ForuM Guys Pirateman1
Wavemach and Dave are good to do business with so that is not an issue. Regarding the FM-25WS, you could do better for allot less. Since you are limited to an attic location, all 25 watts is going to do is overload nearby radios and invite trouble. While it is not as cool looking, I would team up an EDM LCD transmitter with a 15 watt PCS amp. The EDM is just under $200, and the amp is $215. If you can stand up in your attic a good antenna for an attic installation is the FM DX tunable ground plane $60. The EDM LCD will outperform the FM-25WS in the audio department, and would make an excellent driver for the PCS amp which needs only 5 milliwatts to drive it. Throw in a Behringer DSP1424 audio processor for $100 an you will have an excellent transmitter with audiophile sound quality.
If you look closely, the FM only puts 25 watts out in the low band, it's really closer to 15 watts. The different between 15 and 25 watts is barely noticeable, so the PCS at 15 watts is just about the same in terms of coverage.
I would order the EDM, antenna and Behringer first, you might be surprised how well it covers without the amp.
Having CD, AUX And Mic Hookups in the same box as the transmitter is never a good ideal, it's best to keep it separate to avoid problems.
