Greetings To All From High Mountain Radio !
I've seen this question arise here a few times regarding various broadcasters experiencing hum on your signal.. Each piece of gear should be tied to a common ground point, ground rod with as short of a length and as wide a conductor as possible to alleviate the hum.. From my experience, the problem does NOT lie with the cheap Chinese FM transmitters, the hum is being induced, most likely, by a ground loop or the failure to provide any grounding at all !
A good way to neatly facilitate the connections to ground is by adding a heavy copper 'bus bar' to your bench or whatever you use as a table for your equipment and connect each piece of station equipment to this bus bar with heavy copper braided wire, keeping the heavy braided connection cables as short as possible, run each braid to the copper bus bar, then connect the bus bar to a good earth ground, again, with as short a length of braid as physically possible. In lieu of a ground rod, a cold water pipe usually suffices just as well but a good earth ground is preferred. If you must use a long braid to get to a good earth ground, connect to a cold water pipe instead, as close as possible to your equipment as physically possible.
If any hum still persists after having done the above procedure, be sure to check all of your DC Power Supplies for pure DC, with an oscilloscope preferably, be sure you have no high AC ripple riding on the DC ! Cheesy power supplies are most notorious for this issue. Many times a suitable choke and good quality capacitor on the DC line will help alleviate any AC ripple present.
Remember, it is incumbent upon us, in this community, to maintain the utmost, highest of technical and programming standards for obvious reasons. Give no one a reason to complain !
I have followed this rule with my FM station and the signal is 100% hum free and the only humming being produced is by me when I am working around the 'Oasis Studio' while listening to my station !
