Greetings To All !
I just purchased one of these 'Anytone' SMART 10 Meter Amateur Radio Transceivers for my car. It is capable of both AM and FM modulation and is switchable between 4 and 8 watts RF power output. It is just slightly larger than a standard credit card in size and will fit just about anywhere in a vehicle which made it very attractive to me for mobile operation ! It is very easy to use and covers between 28.000 and 29.695 in four separate channel groupings. It can be readily recognized as a CB radio that was modified to operate in the 10 Meter amateur radio band and even sports a Channel 9 and 19 'emergency' channels which is a dead giveaway that it is a modified CB radio, at the factory of course.
It's a VERY cool little radio, I can't wait to give it a try during 'E Skip Season' this spring ! While it is impractical for use on repeaters it is a great little rig for working simplex DX on 10 meter phone ! The only thing that would make this radio even better is if it had a CW mode !
If anyone else has one of these and has used it I'd love to hear your comments !

I've been thinking about getting one of these too. I wonder if it has RIT? If so it shouldn't be too difficult to make it work for CW. Just add an external BFO and connect a key to the PTT line.

It has no ability to RIT or use duplex so it's useless on 10m repeaters but fine for simplex. CW will not work as the PTT mic wire takes some milliseconds to engage transmit. Modulated CW of course will work. There may be some way to bypass the slow engaging PTT circuit internally to key directly and quickly but I haven't seen anyone attempt such a mod and would almost require a schematic of the main board in the radio which I don't think exists. The delay between RX and TX might be a permanent artifact of the internal digital circuitry taking a blink of the eye to switch over operation because of on board clock rate or something.
The radio is pretty much limited to its intended purposes and optionally configured via solder jumpers to use other bands, including the entire CB radio and export bands on both AM or FM. I created a larger thread on the radio here including some modifications I've done to mine along with other information..
Either way for the cost and how much the little radio packs inside of it one really can't complain over a few small limitations.
Anytone has some much higher end models like the AT-5555n for three times the price that may be CW capable and already include SSB mode but they are larger radios and possibly overkill for some of us who want a tiny portable radio for AM on CB.
Thanks! Yeah I saw your larger thread after posting on this one. Good stuff! It might be possible to key the B+ to the finals. I've seen some transmitter designs that do that. But at that point, probably too much time and effort for what is gained. Might as well just build a simple 10M CW transceiver. I'm still tempted to buy one, though. It seems like a neat little rig for the price; something to put in my Jeep for both CB and 10M AM.
