Hi, I am starting to collect the equipment for a fm project and bought a SKB case today to get things started. When I bought the case (off CL for $65) the seller didn't want to take out 2 items, a Sampson d-2500 (it looks way beyond my ability) and a Behringer Virtualizer Pro, he told me I could keep them, no extra charge. My question is, Would these be good components for a "FM project" I have no experience with either unit. Any helpful input would be great, Thanks
I'm not sure how much use you will get out of the EQ, but those Sampsons are good workhorses on people's guitar rigs all the time, I bet you could sell it pretty easily.
but the Effects Processor, that would be valuable as a compressor / sonic maximizer in line right before the transmitter input. a hard wall compressor (limiter) helps take away the risk of over-modulating the transmitter. if that thing has "multiband" compressor mode, that would be ideal, since those do the most to level out perceived volume and increase cohesiveness of your audio, while keeping the music/speech "punchy" and dynamic. Proper setup of a multiband compressor is tricky, i'd recommend reading up on it or trusting the presets if you go that route.
