Thought this was interesting. I wonder if any pirates have thought about doing something similar? It would definitely be a neat gimmick for SW pirates since they commonly use SSTV and other fun radio geeky modes to send information in the modulation.
Maybe broadcast a show and toward the end tell the listeners to record the data that is about to be sent and enjoy running it on their old Commodore. The VIC20 and C64. Or Atari or any other popular computer that stored data on tape. Even if the listeners don't have the computer there are modern emulators that can take the sound data from soundcard and run on a modern PC I believe.
I mean imagine how cool it would be to make an entire promotional game or interactive program to promote your station, doesn't have to be complex, but just enough to peek interest and broadcast that knowing listeners will do what they will with it. Maybe only one listener will actually go all the way and decode it to their micro computer and run it, but that's a fan that will forever be in love with your station and it's a type of fandom that few other endeavors would ever capture.
I certainly know if I heard a station on shortwave pull a stunt like that and tell me to tune in and record, I would.
